Surf Hong Kong

Surf Hong Kong is Hong Kong’s first professional surf and sea kayak school catering to all levels of ability, from total beginners to people who have advanced skills but want personalised coaching. Our school and shop are in beautiful Sai Wan, one of 5 pristine beaches in the Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay) area of the Sai Kung East Country Park.

Sai Wan (our home beach) is the most protected so sometimes doesn’t have surfable waves. Tai Long Wan main beach ALWAYS DOES (well probably 90% of the time), which is why we have located here. With our own inflatable surf  boat can take our students to any surf break in Tai Long Wan in minutes! And its an incredibly beautiful location as well..

Our surf and sea kayak instructors are internationally trained and certified, having worked in the UK, Europe and Australia. Our surfboards are specifically designed for the beginner surfer ranging in size from 6 foot to 9 foot. Our sea-kayaks are designed for surf and open ocean expeditions.

At our surf shop you can hire surf boards as well as buy the best sunscreen (ZINKE) on the market. We are located just 50 meters from the beach.

Sea-kayaking School & Sea Kayak trips

Here at Surf Hong Kong we love all things surf and sea. That means we can also provide sea-kayak training for anyone who wishing to know how to safely paddle in the ocean. Our courses range from beginners to advanced, localised to Hong Kong waters but standardised to internationally recognised BCU level 3. For more information, visit our sea-kayak school page.

We also have taster sessions at Sai Wan beach for anyone who wishes to try it out and see if its something you might enjoy.
Hong Kong has over 230 islands, deserted beaches and remote places that you can only explore by sea. Sea-kayaking is one of the most environmentally friendly, fitness developing ways to enjoy places that others can only dream about.

Learn to Surf

We have a range of options for learning to surf. Our lessons are in small groups, but if you wish to have one on one coaching, please contact us by email to arrange a consultation.

From our surf school in Sai Wan we provide 2 hour lessons, starting at 8am daily. Generally these lessons are structured to the experience of the learner. We try to have all the people in the lesson at the same level of skill so everyone gets maximum benefit for their time in the water.

We limit the number of people per session so to avoid disappointment it is always best to book in advance (book here). However, if you are passing our shop and feel the urge to learn to surf, call in as there may be an opening during the day.

Our lessons are suitable for children of all ages from 7 to 18. We also have family lessons, adult lessons and group sessions for friends who wish to try out the sport together.
